Why was the wrong drink recognised?
Barcode and label results come from local and community reference catalogues and can be incomplete or incorrect. Check the drink name and producer on the confirmation screen, choose Not right?, search the catalogue, or enter the facts manually before saving.
Why can’t BeerShelf use my camera or photos?
Open iOS Settings > Privacy & Security, then review Camera and Photos access for BeerShelf. You can still add a drink manually if access is unavailable.
Why is a drink missing from the map?
A map pin needs a saved location with coordinates. Allow Location access when adding a drink, or add/edit the venue and location in its Journal entry. Drinks with place text but no coordinates still appear in the expanded passport list.
Does BeerShelf need an account or internet connection?
No account is required. Your shelf and tasting journal are stored locally and remain usable offline. Online catalogue search and some barcode lookups need a connection; BeerShelf falls back to its bundled catalogue when possible.
How do I delete a drink and its data?
Press and hold a bottle on the shelf, choose delete, and confirm. BeerShelf removes the drink together with its journal records and owned photos. Deleting the app removes the full local library, subject to device backups managed through Apple.
Can deleted local data be recovered?
BeerShelf does not currently provide an in-app backup or restore feature. Treat deletion as permanent. A device backup may contain an older app copy, but restoration is controlled by Apple and is not guaranteed.
