The table assumes an even pace from start to finish. Most runners slow a little in the second half of a marathon, so treat marathon times as a best case.
How pace is calculated
Pace is time divided by distance. A 5K in 28:30 is 1,710 seconds over 5 km, which is 342 seconds per kilometre, or 5:42 per km. To convert to miles, multiply the per-km pace by 1.609: 5:42 per km is about 9:10 per mile.
To go the other way, multiply pace by distance. At 6:00 per km, a 10K takes 60 minutes and a half marathon (21.1 km) takes about 2 hours 6 minutes.
